“STEM in Gender”: Investing in the future of the new generations

Comeca Tecnologie has actively participated in the “STEM in Gender” project, an initiative created to overcome gender stereotypes and bring young people closer to STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The project, promoted by the University of Brescia as part of the Gender Equality Plan, aims to inspire male and female students through innovative and inclusive educational pathways.

The collaboration with the Comunità Pratica, a group of 13 companies in the area, increased the impact of this initiative. In particular, Lonato del Garda stood out as the area with the highest level of participation: 639 students and 35 hours of activities, demonstrating exceptional participation both in terms of numbers and enthusiasm.

Why STEM in Gender is important

Projects such as “STEM in Gender” not only raise awareness among young people, but also create a fundamental synergy between schools and businesses, fostering a culture of innovation and social progress. Through hands-on activities and moments of dialogue with professionals, students had the opportunity to discover the concrete application of STEM disciplines in work contexts, inspired by inclusive role models and the breaking down of gender barriers. This is particularly relevant at a time when it is vital to build a workforce that is skilled, equitable and ready for the challenges of the future.

A measurable impact: the value of Social ROI (SROI)

Thanks to the use of the SROI (Social Return on Investment) methodology, it was possible to quantify the social value generated by the initiative: every euro invested generated a return of 83.15 € in social value. This result highlights the effectiveness of the project, not only in strengthening ties with the territory, but also in opening up new educational and professional opportunities for the younger generations.

Comeca Tecnologie, always committed to the development of new generations, has decided to support this project together with the Feralpi Group and other partners of Comunità Pratica. For us, participating in initiatives such as ‘STEM in Gender’ means not only contributing to building a fairer and more innovative future, but also strengthening our ties with the local area where we operate and invest resources for positive and lasting change.

Special thanks

We would like to thank our partners, the educators, the schools involved and above all the students, whose curiosity and enthusiasm remind us of the importance of building an inclusive and innovative future.
